Hi there! This page is going to serve as a kind of primer for what this site is and how Rosetta’s adventures work.
The RP community in Final Fantasy XIV is as vast as it is varied and is full of “unwritten rules.” I’ve got a lot of thoughts on those rules, especially with the uneven way some people apply them. So this will be a primer on how I treat story elements. Why is this important? Because unlike other Massively Multiplayer Online games, the game only sort of acknowledges that other players exist. In A Realm Reborn several missions explicitly mention that the Warrior of Light should gather up other adventurers to deal with threats to the star… However in later expansions it is heavily implied that you’re basically the only hero, and everyone else pales in comparison to your vaunted glory. FFXIV is an MMO that is narratively structured as a single player game, especially in later expansions.
So this page addresses some of those inconsistencies and how Rosetta fits in.
SPOILERS AHEAD, UP TO AND INCLUDING ENDWALKER!
You have been warned.
Warrior of Light (WoL)
Like most other RP communities, the WoL is not Rosetta. She has not saved the star from a world ending calamity, and is not best friends with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. The WoL is the guy you’ve seen in the trailers, and we’re—at best—war buddies. Nemo was serving in Sir Aymeric’s retinue and defending Ishgard during the Dragon Song War. When Nidhogg attacked, Rosetta was one of the adventurers who aided the WoL in defeating the great wyrm. This is the full extend that he and Rosetta have interacted.
Scions of the Seventh Dawn (SoSD)
Speaking of the Scions, Rosetta barely knows the majority of them. Tataru has hired her as a contractor for the larger organization on occasion, and Rosetta has a friendship with Alisaie that has them slightly higher than acquaintances. Estinien knows of her as a Dragoon, and nothing more.
The First
For the Meta I use, people who can use the echo can travel back and forth to the first. It doesn’t make sense that we can’t all do this, as at one point there were thousands of us at any given moment running around the Crystarium, let alone the rest of Norvrandt. We can’t, however, travel back to The World Unsundered, as that leaves open a whole bunch of timey whimey stuff.
The Moon
Once to Loporrits started broadcasting, of course people wanted to go to the moon. The Loporrits, eager to meet the people of Ehteirys, welcomed the various denizens of Eorzea who were willing to make the trip, as they had. This all ties in with the interstellar exploration that’s been happening as well.
Ultima Thule
A privileged and connected few have travelled on the Ragnarok to Ultima Thule, but Rosetta hasn’t breathed that rarified air.
Multiple Jobs
This came up in an RP I was doing with someone as a shocker that Rosetta had multiple job stones. For the meta I’ll be using, it is not uncommon for adventurers to have multiple job stones and to carry a plethora of gear in Hammerspace. We don’t collect job stones the same way as the WoL did, but still.
